Al Arabiya English supports UAE Water Aid

8 July 2014

Al Arabiya English is in full support of the nationwide water aid campaign by the UAE government which aims to provide secure and clean drinking water to more than five million people around the world.

The charity initiative, launched by the Prime Minister of the UAE and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid al Maktoum, marks the start of Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

“We are determined to plant a seed of goodness in every place around the world, as the legacy of the UAE to humanity,” Sheikh Maktoum said.

The campaign, in coordination with UAE Red Crescent, aims to build more water treatment plants, dig new wells, and water reservoirs throughout the world in a bid to provide and give back to the needy during the holy month.

“Statistics show that 3.4 million people die every year because they lack clean drinking water,” Sheikh Mohammad said in a comment on Twitter.

Al Arabiya News is supporting the campaign by creating awareness through banners, features and analysis highlighting relating to the water crisis globally.

In a statement I released about the campaign, “We are proud to be doing our bit in helping to create awareness around this noble cause the extremely important issue of water, particularly that this ambitious effort aims to save lives and help needy people regardless of their race, beliefs and color.”

“We just have to remember that every 21 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease, and as little as Dh25 (less than 7 USD) from any of us can help reverse this, so we urge people give generously”
