Al Arabiya News launches new app for BlackBerry 10 smartphones

25 September 2014

I am proud to announce that Al Arabiya News has launched its new app for BlackBerry® 10 smartphones, giving readers faster and easier access to the latest news and thoughtful analysis on Middle Eastern affairs.

The launch was held alongside Blackberry’s release of its newest smartphone, the Passport. The new smartphone boasts a unique touch-sensitive tactile keyboard, a 10.3 software update, a new kind of personal assistant and a new audio experience dubbed the “natural sound technology.”

In addition, the device has up to 30 hours of battery life and a 13MP OIS Camera.

Blackberry Ltd has also launched Blackberry Blend, which connects the phone to the computer or tablet, basically “projecting” the blackberry device to another device through secured connection without the need for logging in to a vpn.

The app, available through the BlackBerry World storefront, “will offer the most optimal content viewing experience and ensure our content becomes even more accessible and available for influential decision makers who need to conveniently access their news and analysis while on the go.

Users of the app will be able to benefit from all of our existing features and sections, such as our ‘View More’ video-on-demand service which enables users around the world to access Al Arabiya News Channel bulletins and flagship programs with full English subtitles and transcripts.

Mike Al Mefleh, the Senior Director of Product Management and Services at Blackberry – whom I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting – said “It’s great to welcome the Al Arabiya News App in BlackBerry World; the apps make the most of the unique features of our newly launched BlackBerry Passport such as the large square touch screen and the new QWERTY touch-enabled keyboard”.
