Al Arabiya English’s Blog section launch

Everyone had a good time celebrating last week (especially me) because we finally launched Al Arabiya English’s Blog section – and this with a bang!

I am grateful for the support of my team and the management, and most especially of our dear friends and bloggers.

Shout out to Sultan al Qassemi for gracing our event with a keynote speech – it was very inspiring!

“It’s important for bloggers to instigate debate and reflect the calls of society and present new ideas,” he said at the event.

“This is where Al Arabiya English comes in. I have a request: Please find new writers and bloggers and find new voices. Hopefully this page will not only be the source for not only nationals in the Gulf but also for any expatriate who lives in this region who has a right to read and reflect about us.” – this has been noted my dear friend.

As you all know, Al Arabiya English has prided itself with the quality of hardcore news that we publish but we’d also like to give out our appreciation for the quirky and fun stuff in a bid to instigate debate in a different way. Although we are known for politics, we thought we’d give those who write on nutrition, sports, and life in general, an opportunity to write for our website.

Hopefully through the blog section, we can give you more than what we usually do – hopefully there’s more color for the make up lovers out there, more nutrition tips for the health concious, etc.

I’d also like to thank my colleague Eman El Shenawi who accepted to take on the role of section editor for the blog – thank you Eman!
