In the loving memory of “Dean” Ghassan Tueni

What a sad year for Middle Eastern journalism it has been! Following the loss of Anthony Shadid a few months ago; we now mourn the “Dean of Lebanese Journalism” Ghassan Tueni.
Tueni passed away last Friday, he was 86. He has lived through it all, seeing Lebanon at peace and war and taking part in shaping its history as a journalist, politician and intellectual.
Under him, An-Nahar daily turned from a merely a newspaper to an icon and a “school” which has graduated generations of the Arab World’s leading journalists.
