Moderating at the World Government Summit 2016 | Can we still restore Arab pride in science?

I’ve had the privilege of working with researchers from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) during the World Government Summit, along with a former colleague, veteran reporter Ben Flanagan and longtime science editor for pan-Arab daily Al-Hayat Ahmad Moghrabi.
In a session that aims to tackle boosting Arab pride in creating and inventing science, I must say that I agree with what Dr. Ahmad said that we (Arabs) are now reduced to being users rather than being creators – of technology, of science…
But I am pretty sure that we will be able to restore the Arab pride once the Emirates Mars Mission goes live in 2021 – but do we have to really wait till 2021 to get moving?
I think what we should do is that we should encourage not only the youth, but everyone who has talent in envisioning and creating technology – programs that can help pin point who these individuals are and have them inspire aspiring technicians, chemists and scientists.
