New York Times quotes my column on women driving
I would like to thank Robert Mackey from The New York Times for being among the few in Western media outlets to reflect a different point of view. In his article published on 12 February 2015, he quoted my column where I called the Saudi historian who said women will get raped if they drive a “clown,” criticizing the TV channel that hosted him without an opposing opinion which reflects that not all Arabs/Muslims think the way he does.
My point is that whilst we shouldn’t hide or shy away from the fact that these preposterous points of view exist, we should also not fall into the trap of believing they are representative of everyone in our societies.
